HOMEWORK:  Monday will be the only day with required homework, other than nightly reading. Work that is not finished in class will need to be finished at home and returned the next day.  There will be monthly book report projects that will be required and I will give more details on those each month.  When homework is not returned the student will use their recess time to finish any work not turned in, unless they have a note from a parent stating why it was not returned.

SPELLING:  Spelling words will be sent home on Monday and need to be studied throughout the week for the test on Friday.  This needs to be made a priority at least twice a week at home.

READING:  Reading is also a high priority in our class.  For your child to improve their reading it is required that they read at least 20 to 30 minutes at home EACH night.  They will have a reading log that will need to be signed each night verifying that they did their reading.  Students that donít make this a priority at home will find it hard to make the improvement needed to be ďat grade levelĒ.

BOOK REPORTS:  Each month students will be responsible for doing a book report on a book they have read AT HOME that month.  Most will be from books of their choice, but there will be a couple that I wlll have them choose a certain type of book for their report.  Information on each type is located on the STUDY GUIDE page.
